Rainbow Recycling

Primary 1 pupils were recently involved in a whole school eco week. The aim of eco week was to encourage children to think of ways to “up- cycle” items that might otherwise have been thrown out. Primary 1 decided to collect plastic bottles and metal cans from home and turn them into vases, tubs and pots to sell.

The boys and girls were especially lucky as local artist Linda McFarlane came to advise them about the best way to make their products. The children worked hard together and the highlight of the project was when parents/carers came into school for the afternoon to help children complete final decorations.

The stall they created was very impressive and the children advertised their stall by creating a catchy jingle and producing poster.
