I started as the Head Teacher of Shieldhill Nursery and Primary School in February 2009. I have over twenty years experience teaching primary aged pupils, the last eleven have been as a Head Teacher, in two different schools. Through these years I have held responsibility for Additional needs, Assessment, Child Protection as well as a range of curriculum subjects – maths and science being amongst my favourites!
I believe that education has to be the best it can be, as children only get one shot at school. Children should come to school to develop the skills to live, learn and laugh. There should be an ethos of mutual respect, where everyone is valued and encouraged.
I welcome the partnership that working with parents brings and am looking forward to developing the shared ownership of educating young people with the parents of Shieldhill.
We are moving into an exciting time for Scottish education, with the introduction of the Curriculum for Excellence. The high standards that the children achieve at Shieldhill will help us enhance what we offer and create a curriculum that is fun and rewarding.
